Caption Alewive Run, Ducktrap, 1928
Description Photograph (b/w) of alewive run on ducktrap stream, 1928. On back of photo is handwritten: "Alewife run on Ducktrap Stream, 1928. Irv Eugley paid $50 for elwive privelege according to the 1929 Lincolnville Town report. Fred Hardy & Russell Heal." In spring, when the ice is out of the feeder ponds, the alewives run the streams. Gulls flying over Ducktrap Falls is a signal. Others involved with the harvest from 1926 to 1935 were Fred Young, W. J. Morrison, Fred Amborn, and Arthur Oxton. Most years the fee was $50 to the Town.
